Uttapam is a South Indian vegetarian breakfast dish made with a batter prepared with rice, dhuli urad dal and water. The batter can be used to prepare dosa as well as idli. Uttapam can be topped with vegetables of your choice like carrot, beans, tomato, onion, capsicum, coriander etc. We have made this a Tri Colour Uttapam which is topped with tomato, grated fresh coconut and capsicum as a Republic Day special recipe.
